Helping Stay-at-Home Parents Re-enter the Workforce

“…Parents who leave the workforce when their kids are young but later want to reenter it might be corporate America’s greatest untapped resource.”

If you are feeling hopeless and defeated sending off resumes with never a response then this statement should fill you up with hope. Check out this article from the Harvard Business Review that details how some companies are working alongside stay at home parents to help them re-enter the workforce. By creating ‘returnships’, an extreme version of an internship, companies start new employees right away with on-the-job training that can quickly and efficiently prepare them for a permanent position. Other companies are hiring returnees on with an assigned mentor to get them up to speed as soon as possible.

Make sure to take note of the companies who have already established ‘returnship’ programs specializing in tech jobs.
